How To Properly Install a Toilet
Whether your toilet is leaking or is just getting old, there can be many different reasons to replace it. However, this may seem like a daunting task. While care is required to complete the task properly, toilet installation does not need to be difficult. If you need to install a toilet, here are tips to help you do it properly.
Prep Your Space for Toilet Installation
First, it is important that you prep your space for toilet installation. This means cleaning the area, as well as making sure that you have all of the tools that you need. After that, you need to put a rag in the soil pipe to ensure that nothing falls down into it.
Install the Soil Pipe
Once you have prepped the soil pipe for installation, you need to ensure that it fits properly into the flange. By fitting the soil pipe up to the closet flange you can be assured that the fit is right.
Install the Wax Ring
After you have checked to make sure that the flange is flush against the floor and firmly secured, you need to install the wax ring. The wax ring needs to be gently placed over the flange with the flat side down. The next step after doing that is to lower the toilet so that the bolts in the base align with the bolts coming from the flange.
Install the Tank
When you have finished lowering the base of the toilet and securing it, it is time to install the tank. To install the tank you will need to lower it over the back of the base, aligning the bolts in the tank with the holes in the base.
